Earlier Report Observations
In 2018, Argentina's olive sector was already a major player in the Americas, with over 86,000 hectares dedicated to olive cultivation and annual production around 300,000 tons. The industry's export orientation, with more than 110 companies shipping products worth over USD 220 million to more than 30 destinations, provided a solid base for domestic production of fresh olives, which stood at 304 thousand tons that year.
Production then increased to 321 thousand tons in 2019 and remained stable in 2020. A further rise to 339 thousand tons in 2021 coincided with the sector's reported revenue reaching USD 223 million, reflecting sustained demand that encouraged output growth. The upward trend continued to a peak of 354 thousand tons in 2022, before a contraction to 342 thousand tons in 2023.
