The market for oil seeds and oleaginous fruits in Slovenia grew from 4 316 t in 2018 to a peak of 5 252 t in 2020, a 22% increase. It then entered a sustained decline, falling to 3 556 t by 2023, which was 32% below the 2020 peak.

This shift was underpinned by a steep drop in domestic production, which more than halved from 3 080 t in 2018 to 1 370 t in 2023. Imports generally rose over the period, reaching 2 986 t in 2024, while exports saw volatility, with a notable low in 2019 and a recovery to 756 t by 2024.

By 2023, the combination of declining production and moderate import growth resulted in the market volume contracting to its lowest level in the observed period.
