From 2018 to 2020, the Slovak market for non-reinforced PP sheet contracted from 24 278 t to 19 845 t before stabilizing near 19 804 t in 2020. The stabilization occurred as pandemic-related supply chain disruptions were offset by sustained demand for certified, food-safe materials from the food processing and healthcare sectors, which required specific polymer grades.

Market volume rebounded sharply to 31 346 t in 2021 and further to 40 570 t in 2022. This growth was primarily driven by the expansion of domestic production capacities, including new extrusion lines for multi-layer sheets, and the entry of new players introducing innovative products like honeycomb panels for commercial vehicles, which opened new application segments.

Following the 2022 peak, the market corrected to 29 506 t in 2023 and 28 582 t in 2024, returning to a level comparable to the pre-growth period.

Slovakia's exports of not reinforced or laminated non-cellular PP sheets declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 26 396 tonnes, reflecting a modest 4.2% drop from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 9%, with an average annual decline of 3.1%.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Czechia, and Poland were the main buyers of Slovakia's not reinforced or laminated non-cellular PP sheets. Germany accounted for 29.6% of exports in kind, Czechia for 18.7%, and Poland for 11.3%. Together, these three countries comprised 59.6% of total exports in kind.

Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 4.4%, with an average annual decline of 1.5%. The lowest import volume was recorded in 2018 at 18 117 tonnes, which saw the largest decline of 10.9%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the largest increase of 9.3%.
