In 2022, the market volume declined further to 124 thousand tons, though its value stabilized at around 308 million US dollars. This dynamic was primarily driven by a severe drought in Andalusia, which reduced irrigation allocations and negatively impacted cotton yields and overall production. Furthermore, the price of raw cotton soared by over 36% during the year, reaching historic highs and affecting market dynamics.
