Between 2018 and 2020, Guinea's production of not carded or combed cotton rose steadily from 58 820 tons to 59 729 tons, with market volume expanding to 58 768 tons. During this period, the adoption of Law L/2018/024/AN, which regulates veterinary medicines and could indirectly impact agricultural inputs, provided a regulatory backdrop for the sector.

Following a slight production decrease in 2021, output recovered to 60 295 tons in 2022, supported by the mid-term review of the AgriFARM project that outlined measures to strengthen agricultural value chains including cotton. Market volume stabilized around 58 474 tons that year, amid broader economic resilience noted in the Guinean economy.

A significant uptick in market volume to 60 566 tons occurred in 2023, driven by the launch of a national price benchmark system that improved market transparency, alongside renewed governmental commitment to reviving cotton production in key regions. Supply and price stability agreements between the government and the Chamber of Commerce further bolstered the sector, with these efforts extending into 2024 through integration into the Simandou 2040 infrastructure program.
