Growth continued through 2022 and 2023, with the market reaching 4 364 thousand tons by the end of the period.

In 2024, import volumes increased to 188 thousand tons, up from 171 thousand tons in the prior year. This rise occurred alongside expanded market access for Spanish pork products in China, which facilitated trade. Underlying demand in China, influenced by changing lifestyles and income growth, continued to affect the market, while global meat production trends indicated rising pig meat output in the region.
