Then in 2022, a sharp contraction occurred to 47 124 thousand tons, with the decline continuing to 41 279 thousand tons in 2023. In 2024, a modest recovery brought the volume to 43 230 thousand tons.

In value terms, the market showed more consistent growth, rising from $204.4 million in 2018 to $286.9 million in 2024. The most significant value increase happened in 2024, despite only a moderate rise in physical volume.

In 2023, state institutions registered 291 new deposits of natural sand-gravel aggregate with total reserves exceeding 470 million tons, increasing approved resources by 1.09%. In 2024, the policy of approving new deposits continued, expanding the resource base for the construction sector.

Production natural sands in Poland

Natural sands production in Poland declined after two years of growth. In 2019, output reached its peak at 224.6 million US dollars, but by 2020 it had fallen to 217.2 million US dollars, representing a 3.3% decrease. The largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 14.2%. Overall, from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 15.1%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 4.8%.

Poland's natural sands exports declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports totaled 349.1 thousand tonnes, a sharp reduction of 26.8% compared to 2019. The maximum volume was recorded in 2018 at 613.0 thousand tonnes, which also saw the largest increase of 3.6%. From 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 41%, equating to an annualized decline of 16.1%.
