The Seychelles milk market began to see diversification in local production with the inauguration of the Maurilait Seychelles Ltd yogurt plant in 2018. This facility, supported by government involvement, introduced fresh yogurt products under the Yoplait brand, increasing consumer choice. Overall market volume remained around 4.2 thousand tonnes through 2020, with a slight dip in 2019 followed by growth the next year.

The post-pandemic recovery of tourism in 2021 boosted demand, pushing market volume to 4.4 thousand tonnes. However, in 2022, the market contracted sharply to 3.7 thousand tonnes, coinciding with the government's introduction of a maximum retail price on essential imported commodities to counter rising global commodity prices, which likely constrained import volumes and affected affordability.

Economic recovery, accommodative monetary policy, and population growth supported a rebound in market volume to 4.4 thousand tonnes in 2023. Strong tourism arrivals in 2024 continued to underpin demand, although no new dairy-specific regulations were reported.

From 2017 to 2020, imports dropped by 4.5%, averaging a 1.5% annual decline. The peak value was recorded in 2018 at 9 844 thousand US dollars, followed by the largest decrease of 9.4% in 2019.
