Earlier Report Observations

The Cambodian milk market experienced volatility between 2018 and 2020. After reaching 44.5 thousand tons in 2018, market volume dipped to 41.1 thousand tons in 2019. The following year, however, saw a sharp recovery to 49.8 thousand tons, a 21% increase. This rebound was facilitated by the expansion of modern trade and online distribution channels, which improved product accessibility for consumers despite broader economic headwinds.

From 2021 onward, the market entered a phase of sustained growth. The entry of new players and the expansion of UHT and fresh milk processing plants helped lift market volume to 52.0 thousand tons in 2021. Continued investment in dairy processing infrastructure, coupled with evolving consumer preferences toward healthier and fortified products, supported further growth to 56.7 thousand tons by 2023. Government support for domestic dairy farming and clearer labeling regulations also bolstered consumer confidence during this period.
