Albania's melon production rebounded after a two-year decline. In 2019, production reached its lowest point at 40 713 tonnes, but then increased by 23.2% in 2020 to 50 164 tonnes. Over the 2017-2020 period, production grew by 14.9%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.7%. The largest decline occurred in 2018, when production fell by 4.3%.

Albania's melon exports grew for the second consecutive year. In 2018, exports hit their lowest point at 704 tonnes, with a 40.8% decline that year. However, they rebounded strongly in 2019 with a 56.1% increase, and continued to grow by 31.7% in 2020 to reach 1 448 tonnes. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports increased by 21.8%, translating to an average annual growth rate of 6.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Serbia, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina consistently led as the top destinations for Albania's melon exports by volume. Serbia accounted for 40.8% of exports, Romania for 21.1%, and Bosnia and Herzegovina for 13.9%. Together, these three countries represented 75.9% of Albania's total melon export flows.

Albania's melon export value increased for the second year in a row. In 2018, exports reached their lowest value at 468.7 thousand US dollars, declining by 24.1% that year. Between 2017 and 2020, Serbia, Romania, and Montenegro were the primary destinations for Albania's melon exports by value.
