The melons and papayas market in Iraq began the period at 1 003.8 thousand tonnes in 2018 but contracted the following year to 929.3 thousand tonnes. By 2024, indicators pointed to ongoing economic fragility, with annual import volumes declining slightly. In response, authorities took steps to improve the investment climate and enhance consumer access to goods through wholesale pricing initiatives and the opening of new shopping centers in Baghdad, aiming to stabilize the market.
