Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the Russian market for meat and poultry processing machinery expanded significantly, driven by rising meat sales and production in the country. Increased demand for affordable poultry and pork stimulated investments in processing equipment, while a national import substitution policy encouraged domestic machinery manufacturing. In 2020, the market volume surged to 191.9 million dollars, largely due to a sharp rise in imports, which reflected the low share of domestic equipment production at just 11%.

The market contracted in 2021 to 94.0 million dollars following the introduction of the Eurasian Economic Union technical regulation 'On the safety of poultry meat and its processed products' (TR EAEU 051/2021), which set new mandatory requirements for production processes and temporarily reduced equipment imports. Subsequently, the market recovered as growth in domestic poultry and pork output, along with new veterinary rules aligned with the technical regulation, prompted meat processors to upgrade their machinery. By 2023, the market reached 162.1 million dollars, supported by the commissioning of a new breeding and genetic center for poultry, which boosted poultry farming, and a broader 39% growth in the domestic food equipment market.

In 2024, despite a 3.8% increase in meat production, the market size declined to 126.6 million dollars as equipment imports fell, although domestic production of machinery continued to grow. The development of new technological solutions and updated GOST standards in related industries provided additional support for equipment modernization. By 2025, domestic machinery production remained stable at 33.8 million dollars, while the market continued to be characterized by a high dependence on imported equipment.
