The market volume for mandarins, clementines, tangelos and citrus hybrids in Pakistan experienced significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. It started at 1 699 thousand tons in 2018, grew to 1 794 thousand tons in 2019, then declined to 1 677 thousand tons in 2020. A strong rebound followed in 2021, pushing the market to a peak of 1 939 thousand tons.

In 2022, the market volume contracted to 1 834 thousand tons. During this period, Pakistan maintained its position as a major exporter of these fruits, with export revenues reaching $84.8 million, reflecting the significant role of state-owned or large private companies in production and trade. However, global supply chain pressures and intense export competition from Spain, China, and Turkey affected international market access and pricing, contributing to a drop in physical export volumes. This external pressure, combined with a decrease in domestic production, led to the overall reduction in market volume.

The downward movement continued into 2023, with the market volume falling further to 1 684 thousand tons, primarily due to another year of declining production output.

After two years of growth, Pakistan's production volume of mandarins, clementines, tangelos, and citrus hybrids declined. In 2020, the country produced 2 140 thousand tons, marking a slight contraction of 2.7% compared to the previous year. The highest output was recorded in 2019 at 2 199 thousand tons, while the largest annual increase occurred in 2018 at 8.8%.
