In 2024, malt imports fell sharply to 10 608 t, a 29% drop from the previous year. This coincided with Moldova's ongoing alignment with EU regulatory standards, including subsidies for vineyard planting, which signals broader agricultural policy shifts. The country's wine exports surged by 18% in volume, reflecting stronger international demand for related agricultural products that could influence malt demand. Simultaneously, mass emigration has reduced the available workforce, potentially constraining production capacity in the food processing sector.
