In 2019, ECOWAS produced 748.6 thousand tons of maize bran, sharps and residues, marking the lowest production level in recent years with a 1.1% decline. From 2017 to 2020, the Philippines and India were the two primary destinations for ECOWAS exports of maize bran, sharps and residues. The Philippines accounted for 57.2% of total export flows, while India represented 3.2%. Together, these two markets received 60.4% of all exports during this period.

From 2017 to 2020, the Philippines, India, and Sweden were the main buyers of maize bran, sharps and residues from ECOWAS in value terms.
