The market volume for fresh or chilled leguminous vegetables in Jamaica showed considerable variation from 2018 to 2023. After opening at 6,792 t, the market contracted over the next three years, falling to 6,213 t in 2019, 5,447 t in 2020, and a period low of 5,407 t in 2021. This downward trend was abruptly reversed in 2022, when the market expanded by over 800 t to reach 6,232 t, before declining again to 5,760 t in the following year.

Domestic production followed a nearly identical path, declining from 6,756 t in 2018 to 5,327 t in 2021 before recovering to 6,209 t in 2022. Net trade flows had a marginal impact on total availability, with import volumes remaining under 90 t and exports under 10 t throughout the period.

Jamaica's leguminous vegetable production has declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 5 425 tonnes, marking a significant year-over-year decrease of 11.9%. Over the 2017-2020 period, production fell by 19.4%, with a compound annual growth rate of -7.0%. Production peaked in 2018 at 6 756 tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 0.3%.

Export volumes showed considerable volatility throughout the period. The lowest point was in 2017, while exports peaked in 2019, representing a 3.8-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Jamaica exported 2 727 kg of leguminous vegetables, a 54.6% drop from the previous year. The maximum volume was recorded in 2019 at 6 008 kg, which also saw the largest annual increase of 176.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States were Jamaica's primary markets for leguminous vegetable exports by volume. Canada accounted for 46.1% of exports, the United Kingdom for 25.5%, and the United States for 23.5%. Together, these three countries represented 95.1% of Jamaica's total export volume.
