Between 2018 and 2024, the Lithuanian market for ketchup and other tomato sauces experienced fluctuations in volume, starting at 10 557 tons in 2018. The market was characterized by intensified competition among suppliers due to the variety of tomato varieties available, which influenced product quality and consumer choice.

Market volume dipped to 9 575 tons by 2021 but began recovering from 2023 onward. This recovery was driven by growing consumer interest in natural and homemade tomato sauces, which stimulated demand and pushed volume to 9 340 tons in 2023. The same trend also led to a sharp rise in market value, reaching $17.4 million in 2023, as these premium products commanded higher prices.

In 2024, both volume and value continued to grow, reaching 9 481 tons and $17.9 million respectively. Throughout the period, local producers adapted their selection of tomato varieties for better yield and disease resistance, supporting domestic production.

In 2021, output reached 9 662 thousand US dollars, marking a 6.8% increase compared to the previous year. Looking at the period from 2018 to 2021, production rose by 2.5%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 0.8%. The lowest production value was recorded in 2019 at 8 228 thousand US dollars, when it fell by 12.7%—the sharpest decline in the period. In contrast, 2020 saw the largest increase of 9.9%.

In 2021, Lithuania produced 6 598 tonnes of ketchup and other tomato sauces, representing a slight decrease of 3.1% from 2020. The lowest production volume was in 2019 at 6 186 tonnes, which saw a decline of 6.4%—the largest drop in the period. On the other hand, 2020 recorded the highest volume at 6 809 tonnes, with a significant increase of 10.1%.

After two years of decline, Lithuania's exports of ketchup and other tomato sauces rebounded in 2021. The country exported 2 300 tonnes, showing a substantial gain of 21.1% compared to the previous year. From 2018 to 2021, exports increased by 4.2%, equating to an annualized growth rate of 1.4%. The lowest export volume was in 2020 at 1 899 tonnes, when it fell by 7.8%—the largest decline in the period.

Between 2018 and 2021, Latvia, Estonia, and Russia were the top destinations for Lithuania's ketchup and other tomato sauce exports by volume. Latvia accounted for 36.2% of exports, Estonia for 13.7%, and Russia for 11.2%. Together, these three countries made up 61.1% of total export flows.

Following a two-year contraction, Lithuania's exports of ketchup and other tomato sauces in value terms increased in 2021. Exports reached 3 820 thousand US dollars, reflecting a sharp gain of 28.8% compared to 2020. Over the 2018-2021 period, exports decreased by 4.2%, with a compound annual growth rate of -1.4%. The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 2 966 thousand US dollars, while the largest decline occurred in 2019 with an 18.2% drop.

During 2018-2021, Ukraine, Sweden, and Latvia were the main sources for Lithuania's imports of ketchup and other tomato sauces by volume. Together, these three markets accounted for 61.4% of total import flows.
