Changing consumer preferences towards better thermal and acoustic insulation, along with the presence of manufacturers offering high-quality products, have further shaped the market's orientation towards energy-efficient solutions.

In 2019, production peaked at 6,509 thousand square meters, but in 2020, it dropped to 5,885 thousand square meters, a 9.6% decrease from the previous year. From 2017 to 2020, production increased by 12.7%, translating to an average annual growth rate of 4.1%. The largest increase was recorded in 2018, with a 16.4% rise.

After two years of growth, Spain's exports of insulating glass units declined. In 2019, exports reached their highest point at 2,098 thousand square meters, but in 2020, they fell sharply to 1,402 thousand square meters, a 33.2% decrease from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports decreased by 28.6%, with an average annual decline of 10.6%. The largest increase occurred in 2019, with a 4.1% rise.

From 2017 to 2020, France, Portugal, and Italy were the leading destinations for Spain's insulating glass units exports in volume terms. France accounted for 28.8% of exports, Portugal for 26.7%, and Italy for 9.0%. Together, these three countries represented 64.6% of total export flows.
