Earlier Report Observations

The market for inorganic oxygen compounds of non-metals in Croatia expanded over the 2018–2024 period, with total market volume rising from 19,097 tons to 24,575 tons, an increase of 29%. In value terms, the market grew from 5.3 million USD to 7.0 million USD. This growth was not steady, however, as the market contracted slightly in 2019 and 2020 before entering a phase of more dynamic change from 2021 onward.

A fundamental shift occurred in the supply structure after 2021. Domestic production, which had peaked at 32,881 tons in 2019, plummeted to just 4,350 tons in 2022. This dramatic decline was offset by a surge in imports, which more than doubled from 7,867 tons in 2021 to 19,472 tons in 2022. Consequently, the market became significantly more reliant on imported products, even as total consumption increased.

From 2023, domestic production began to recover, reaching 9,124 tons in 2024, though it remained far below pre-2022 levels. Imports stayed elevated to meet demand, and exports, which had also fallen sharply in 2022, showed modest recovery. The overall market volume continued its upward trajectory, reaching a new high in 2024.
