Global supply and demand shifts influenced the market. In 2019, frost and drought in Turkey, a key world producer, constrained global hazelnut availability, coinciding with a slight market contraction in Uzbekistan. Starting in 2020, a worldwide increase in production of protein-rich confectionery, alongside growing consumer preference for healthy snacks, bolstered demand for hazelnuts, supporting sustained import growth into Uzbekistan through 2023.
