Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2020, the market value of household washers and dryers in Poland gradually declined from $332 million to $293 million. Poland remained a major European production hub for large appliances during these years, with strong export orientation and factories of global brands such as Amica, Bosch, Samsung, Whirlpool, and LG.

The market value surged to $464 million in 2021 before contracting to $329 million in 2022. In 2023, despite a 4.4% drop in production volume, the market value jumped sharply to $478 million, driven primarily by a 29% increase in the average selling price of washing machines. This price rise reflected higher business costs, unstable demand, and labor shortages, while consumer preferences shifted toward more energy-efficient models.

In 2024, the market value eased to $432 million. The closure of two Beko factories in Łódź and Wrocław, affecting around 1,800 jobs, marked a significant production adjustment. Global factors including logistical challenges, geopolitical uncertainty, and inflation continued to influence the market, even as Poland maintained its position as Europe's leading producer of large appliances with about 90% of output exported.
