This contraction coincided with the implementation of Spain's Real Decreto-Ley 10/2022, which introduced a temporary adjustment mechanism in the electricity market, raising energy costs for steel-based manufacturing. Simultaneously, the regular publication of raw material prices by the Spanish Foundry Association (FEAF) highlighted sustained cost pressures on key inputs like steel scrap, further squeezing production margins for spring makers.

The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 123.4 million US dollars, which also saw the largest increase of 15.2%. In contrast, the most significant decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 4.7%.
