The market volume for groundnut oil-cake in Thailand contracted sharply from 29 487 t in 2018 to 14 108 t in 2020. The initial high output in 2018 was supported by the presence of a major oil processor, Thai Vegetable Oil Public Company Limited, which operated four plants with a combined daily capacity of 6 000 t, achieving economies of scale that facilitated substantial oil-cake production as a by-product.

After 2020, the market stabilized at around 14 000 t annually. In 2022, the Russia-Ukraine war drove up import prices for soybeans, increasing production costs for animal feed ingredients. However, Thailand's consistently high demand for animal feed, where oil-cakes are a key component, helped maintain consumption, keeping the market volume steady at 14 132 t in 2022 and 13 828 t in 2023.
