Market volume continued to fall through 2020 and 2021. By 2022, a shift in Italian consumer preferences toward healthier, natural, and organic products—including juices without added sugar—boosted demand for premium grapefruit juice varieties. Nevertheless, the overall market size kept decreasing, as persistent supply limitations from earlier production shortfalls likely offset the impact of these health trends.

The contraction extended into 2023 and 2024, with the market volume dropping to approximately 10.4 million liters in 2024, down from nearly 17.9 million liters in 2018.
