This expansion was further reinforced in 2020 by institutional drivers including public policies, research programs, and technical assistance that encouraged herd development.

After a minor contraction to 37 243 t in 2021—a year marked by the sector-wide adoption of stricter sanitary and quality standards to enhance food safety and international credibility—output rebounded. Investments in automated cold-storage logistics, such as those by Bem Brasil, improved supply chain efficiency for frozen meats. Production reached 40 682 t by 2023, also aided by global logistical disruptions that bolstered demand for Brazilian products alongside continued public-sector support.

Following two years of growth, Brazil's goat meat production declined slightly in 2021. The country produced 37 246 tonnes of goat meat that year, representing a modest 1.3% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the 2018-2021 period, production increased by 7.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 2.4%. The highest production level was recorded in 2020 at 37 735 tonnes, which also saw the largest annual increase of 5.0%.

Brazil's goat meat exports continued to grow for the third consecutive year in 2021. The country exported 2 529 kilograms of goat meat that year, showing a sharp year-over-year increase of 31.7%. Between 2018 and 2021, exports surged by 598.6%, translating to an impressive annualized growth rate of 91.2%.

From 2018 to 2021, the Marshall Islands (20.3% of export volume), Liberia (15.5%), and Hong Kong (15.1%) consistently ranked as Brazil's top destinations for goat meat exports. Together, these three markets accounted for 50.9% of Brazil's total goat meat export volume during this period.

The export market showed considerable volatility throughout the 2018-2021 period. Export values reached their peak in 2021 and hit their lowest point in 2018, representing a 13.2-fold increase between these two years. Brazil exported $25 705 worth of goat meat in 2021, marking a substantial 72.8% increase compared to the previous year. The most significant decline occurred in 2020 with a 10.7% drop, while the largest increase was recorded in 2019 with a remarkable 755.3% surge.

Between 2018 and 2021, Brazil's goat meat export market in value terms featured a diverse range of trading partners. While the Marshall Islands (21.3% of export value), Liberia (13.3%), and Hong Kong (13.2%) were significant destinations, together they accounted for only 47.9% of total export value. The remaining 52.1% was distributed among numerous other countries, indicating a broad and diversified export market.
