Earlier Report Observations
Brazilian goat meat production grew from 34 730 t in 2018 to 37 733 t in 2020, supported by the country's favorable climate and vast territorial expanse, which provided natural advantages for goat farming. This expansion was further reinforced in 2020 by institutional drivers including public policies, research programs, and technical assistance that encouraged herd development.
After a minor contraction to 37 243 t in 2021—a year marked by the sector-wide adoption of stricter sanitary and quality standards to enhance food safety and international credibility—output rebounded. Investments in automated cold-storage logistics, such as those by Bem Brasil, improved supply chain efficiency for frozen meats. Production reached 40 682 t by 2023, also aided by global logistical disruptions that bolstered demand for Brazilian products alongside continued public-sector support.
