A strong recovery followed, with the market reaching 598.0 thousand tonnes in 2022 and surging to 715.1 thousand tonnes in 2023. This expansion was driven by increased garlic imports from India and the entry of new supply sources like Vietnam. In 2024, import activity remained high at 174.3 thousand tonnes, influenced by weather shocks in key producing countries, while Bangladesh maintained its status as a top global garlic producer.
