Earlier Report Observations

The frozen sweetcorn market in the Americas reached a peak volume of 426.4 thousand tons in 2019 before declining to 367.6 thousand tons in 2020. This contraction coincided with a documented decline in consumer demand for sweet corn in key regions like the U.S., where fresh market prices more than doubled and overall consumption patterns were shifting. These factors reduced total market uptake for both fresh and frozen products during that period.

Market conditions began to stabilize and recover from 2021 onward. The introduction of new, genetically improved supersweet corn varieties, which offered longer shelf life and better quality, helped support the market's value, which grew to $645.3 million that year despite a slight dip in physical volume. This recovery accelerated, with the market volume expanding to 398.2 thousand tons by 2023, valued at $838.2 million. Growth during this phase was supported by continuous product innovation, including the launch of organic options, low-sodium formulations, and convenient steam-in-bag frozen packaging, which appealed to evolving consumer preferences.
