In 2018, Madagascar's frozen potato market volume was 108.1 thousand tonnes, supported by the Ovin’ny Vakinankaratra (OVIVA) cooperative's efforts to improve potato production quality and quantity in the main growing region. The market then dropped sharply to 79.9 thousand tonnes in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the potato value chain, directly affecting producers.

After the pandemic, the market rebounded to 106.8 thousand tonnes in 2021 and remained stable around 105–107 thousand tonnes through 2023. In 2023, despite floods in the Vakinankaratra region that reduced potato harvests and drove up consumer prices, the frozen potato market volume reached 107.1 thousand tonnes.

In 2024, the government introduced measures to stabilize essential goods prices, though none specifically targeted potatoes. Potato prices continued to climb in some areas, reflecting the market's sensitivity to climatic conditions and seasonal factors.

The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 109.8 t. The most significant drop occurred in 2019, with a decrease of 2.9%, while the largest increase was also in 2018, at 2.9%.
