The market volume for fresh or chilled duck meat in Canada experienced periodic fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. After starting at 10 743 t in 2018, consumption dipped to 10 141 t the following year before recovering to 10 551 t in 2020. Exports showed a notable downward trend after 2021, falling from 1 745 t that year to 900 t in 2022 and 780 t in 2023.

The peak market volume in 2023, at 11 338 t, represented a 7.1% increase over the previous year and was the highest level recorded in the six-year period. This rise coincided with a contraction in export activity and a slight rebound in import volumes, while domestic production held steady above 10 000 t.
