From 2018 to 2021, the market volume for edible brassicas in Kyrgyzstan declined from 148 000 tonnes to 120 600 tonnes. This reduction was primarily driven by a surge in exports, which more than tripled over the period. Government initiatives, such as the Export Development Program for 2019-2022 and the establishment of logistics centers with IQF freezing technology, facilitated increased shipments to Russia and other EAEU countries. Additionally, the introduction of technical regulations for fresh fruit and vegetable safety in 2021 helped producers meet international standards, further supporting export growth.

The market rebounded in 2022 and 2023, reaching 146 400 tonnes. This recovery was largely due to a sharp drop in exports, which fell by nearly 50% in 2023 compared to 2021, allowing more produce to remain domestically. State investments in agricultural infrastructure, including soil laboratories and irrigation projects, along with price controls on socially important goods, bolstered internal supply and demand. Furthermore, a shift in consumer preferences towards environmentally friendly produce encouraged local market activity.

After two years of decline, edible brassicas production in Kyrgyzstan increased in 2021. The country produced 136.7 thousand tons that year, marking a modest year-on-year growth of 2.7%.
