Maldives saw its dried shelled legumes production rise for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 197.1 t, marking a slight 1.0% increase compared to 2019. Production hit its lowest point in 2018 at 193.4 t, which also saw the largest decline of 0.4%.

From 2017 to 2020, the United Arab Emirates (56.1% of imports by volume), Sri Lanka (20.2%), and Thailand (16.1%) were the top suppliers of dried shelled legumes to Maldives. Together, they accounted for 92.4% of total imports.

Between 2017 and 2020, the United Arab Emirates (51.0% of imports by value), Thailand (20.0%), and Sri Lanka (17.8%) dominated the dried shelled legumes import market to Maldives in monetary terms. Their combined share made up 88.7% of total import value.
