From 2018 to 2020, the dried shelled legumes market in Congo expanded from 28 915 t to 32 291 t. This growth was supported by the official launch of the Agricultural Commercial Development Project (PDAC) in July 2018, which enhanced farmer productivity and market access. Additionally, a liberalized fiscal environment with duty exemptions on agricultural equipment stimulated investments, while the authorization of four new industrial units in the agro-sector increased production capacity.

Market volume declined to 30 203 t in 2021, followed by a recovery to 31 055 t in 2022. The rebound was driven by the implementation of Protected Agricultural Zones (ZAP) as a development strategy and the revival of the Koundzoulou agro-pastoral center, which aimed to boost soybean and other crop production on 6 000 hectares. Government programs under the National Development Plan continued to support agricultural commercialization.

By 2023, the market stabilized at 31 414 t, reflecting steady domestic demand and ongoing efforts to develop the agricultural sector.

Congo's production of dried shelled legumes has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 22 999 tonnes, marking a 1.4% increase from the previous year. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, overall production rose by 4%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 1.3%.

Congo's imports of dried shelled legumes have increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, imports totaled 9 935 tonnes, showing a modest rise of 7.3% compared to 2019. Over the 2017–2020 period, imports grew by 5.9%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.9%. The lowest import volume was recorded in 2018 at 6 542 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 30.3%. In contrast, 2019 experienced the largest increase, with imports surging by 41.5%.

Congo's imports of dried shelled legumes in value terms have risen for the second year in a row. In 2020, imports reached 2 363 thousand US dollars, up by 10.8% from the previous year. Over the 2017–2020 period, imports increased by 27.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.5%. The lowest value was recorded in 2018 at 1 383 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 25.2%. Conversely, 2019 posted the largest increase, with imports jumping by 54.2%.
