At the start of the period, the market volume for dried shelled beans in Lebanon stood at 8 533 t in 2018, against a backdrop of government initiatives to support agriculture, including funding for large-scale irrigation projects and pesticide regulation. The market then contracted to 7 421 t in 2019 before recovering to 9 081 t in 2020.

Growth continued into 2021, with the market reaching a peak of 10 012 t, the highest volume recorded. However, over the next two years the market sharply declined, falling to 7 115 t in 2022 and further to 5 281 t in 2023.

By 2024, the ongoing economic crisis had driven poverty rates to 44%, affecting consumer purchasing power, while customs duties posed challenges for food importers.

In 2020, the value of dried shelled bean production in Lebanon stood at 3 627 thousand US dollars, showing a substantial 31.3% growth compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, production value increased by 15.4%, translating to an average annual growth rate of 4.9%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 2 762 thousand US dollars, which was 29.3% below the peak of 3 909 thousand US dollars reached in 2018.

The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 1 790 thousand US dollars, while the most significant drop occurred in 2018 with a 25.1% decrease.
