Dried shelled bean production in Côte d'Ivoire remained stable at around 38 000 t from 2018 to 2021, supported by efforts to select high-yielding and resilient varieties, pest and disease management initiatives, and government policies promoting diversified agriculture. However, the domestic market volume declined from 38 542 t in 2018 to 29 577 t in 2021, primarily due to a sharp increase in exports, which rose from 302 t in 2018 to 8 987 t in 2021. Rising prices on local markets in 2021 indicated persistent domestic demand despite growing export shipments.

In 2022, the development of local and regional trade, along with the availability of large cultivable areas in the Bafing region, contributed to a slight recovery of the domestic market to 31 633 t, even as exports dipped. By 2023, export companies began offering Global GAP-certified beans, strengthening Côte d'Ivoire's position on international markets and driving further export growth. In 2024, the government imposed a temporary suspension of food product exports, including beans, until July 2024 to ensure food security, which may redirect supply to the domestic market.

The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 38,817 tonnes, which represented a 2.9% increase. However, production experienced its largest decline in 2019, dropping by 2.2%.

Imports then surged to 623 tonnes in 2020, marking a dramatic 1,140.2% year-over-year increase and creating a 23-fold difference between the 2018 low and 2020 peak.
