During this period, rising local prices for vegetables led the government to call for price controls on essential goods, including aubergines. Authorities also implemented policies to promote local consumption, reporting sufficient supply and lower prices for some staples in 2022.

A strong recovery followed in 2023, with the market surging to 123.2 thousand tons. This rebound coincided with consistently rising export prices for aubergines, which reached $2.05 per kilogram, providing a profit incentive for producers to expand output.
