From 2021 to 2022, the market expanded steadily, reaching a high of 6 845 t in 2022. However, in 2023 volume dropped sharply to 5 297 t, representing a significant contraction.

Trade flows in 2024 indicated a modest increase in imports to 1 977 t, alongside lower exports of 3 783 t. During the same year, consumer trends toward healthy snacking and home baking boosted demand for packaged currants, highlighting their role as a natural, nutrient-rich ingredient.

The most significant decline occurred in 2019, with a drop of 0.3%, while the largest increase was recorded in 2018, at 10.6%.

Between 2017 and 2020, exports fell by 2.2%, equating to an average annual decline of 0.7%. The peak was in 2019 at 2 712 tonnes, while the largest increase occurred in 2018, at 10.8%.

From 2017 to 2020, Germany, Belgium, and France were the top destinations for exports in kind, accounting for 31.7%, 18.7%, and 18.4% of the total, respectively. Together, these three countries represented 68.8% of all export flows.
