Earlier Report Observations

The cucumber and gherkin market in Uzbekistan was supported from 2018 by active state agricultural enterprises and the entry of new private farms, which helped expand cultivation areas. Consumer demand increased, leading the market volume to reach 846 thousand tons by 2019. However, in 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted logistics and supply chains, causing a contraction in the market to 802 thousand tons.

State support measures for the agricultural sector facilitated a recovery in production after the downturn. By 2021, the market volume grew to 882 thousand tons, and domestic demand remained stable even amid global logistical challenges and rising energy costs in 2022.

In 2023, a further expansion of sown areas and the adoption of new technologies boosted production volumes, driving the market size to 950 thousand tons. Although exports to CIS countries continued to rise, the increase in domestic output ensured strong market growth.
