Spanish production of crude and rifted mica sheets expanded from 6 826 tons in 2018 to 9 342 tons in 2022, supported by rising exports which more than doubled over the period. This growth in output occurred alongside shifts in domestic market volume.

The domestic market size for these mica products fluctuated between 4 600 and 5 700 tons from 2018 to 2022. After a modest increase to 4 951 tons in 2019, consumption dipped to 4 604 tons in 2020. It then surged by 24% to 5 706 tons in 2021, a year when imports virtually ceased, before falling back to 5 099 tons in 2022. In value terms, the market followed a similar pattern, reaching 2.3 million dollars in 2021 before declining.
