Between 2018 and 2024, the Lithuanian corrugated paper and paperboard market expanded significantly in physical terms, with volume growing from 23 573 t to 60 151 t. This growth was supported by a rapid increase in domestic production, which rose more than fivefold from 10 520 t to 53 548 t. Over the same period, imports decreased from 22 296 t to 18 383 t.

In value terms, the market rose from USD 22.3 million in 2018 to a peak of USD 59.1 million in 2022, before declining to USD 52.4 million in 2024. Physical consumption continued to grow throughout, reaching 60 151 t in 2024. Exports varied, with a notable increase to 11 780 t in 2024, up 33.7% from the previous year.

Production corrugated paper and paperboard in Lithuania

Lithuania's corrugated paper and paperboard production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2021, output reached 38 210 thousand US dollars, marking a sharp increase of 49.4% compared to 2020. Exports corrugated paper and paperboard from Lithuania

Lithuania's exports of corrugated paper and paperboard have increased for the second year in a row. In 2021, exports totaled 9 939 tonnes, up 43.5% from 2020. From 2018 to 2021, exports rose by 7.5%, with a compound annual growth rate of 2.4%. The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 6 695 tonnes, which also saw the largest decline of 27.6%.

From 2018 to 2021, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland were the key partners for Lithuania's corrugated paper and paperboard exports by volume. Estonia accounted for 40.0% of exports, Latvia for 33.5%, and Poland for 9.8%, together making up 83.3% of total export flows.
