The coffee market in Dominica from 2018 to 2024 was initially shaped by the national Coffee Propagation, Rehabilitation and Expansion Project. This government-led initiative, which included the construction of a processing plant in Portsmouth and efforts to promote exports to Europe and America, aimed to restore the competitiveness of local coffee production. Historical climatic conditions favorable for coffee cultivation persisted, supporting this effort, while a shift in agricultural production toward coffee alongside other crops indicated diversification.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 affected supply chains and export logistics, yet production volumes showed resilience, partly due to ongoing rehabilitation programs and increased attention to traceability and quality. In the following years, state policies reinforced agricultural support for post-pandemic recovery, and the entry of new players, including state-owned companies, added dynamism. Global factors such as international coffee price fluctuations and regional logistics conditions also influenced the market.

By 2023, production stabilized at over 362 t, while imports grew significantly, contributing to a gradual increase in total market volume, which reached 373.2 t that year. The overall period saw a relatively stable production base supported by continuous rehabilitation efforts, coupled with expanding import activity.

In 2019, Dominica produced 353.6 tonnes of coffee, husks, skins, and substitutes, which was the lowest level during this period. Production then increased by 3.0% year-on-year to reach 364.2 tonnes in 2020. The highest production was recorded earlier, in 2018, at 369.7 tonnes. The most significant decline occurred in 2019, when production fell by 4.3%.
