Between 2018 and 2021, Guinea's market for coconut, palm kernel or babassu oil saw initial volatility. The rapid expansion of improved oil palm plantations in 2018 set the stage for future production increases. In 2019, a Ministry of Commerce campaign against Sudan IV dye in palm oil aimed to enhance quality, coinciding with a market volume drop to 5 865 tons as exports peaked at 408 tons. Market volume then recovered to 6 092 tons in 2020 and 6 187 tons in 2021, supported by lower export volumes.

Market growth accelerated from 2022, with production rising to 6 631 tons and market volume to 6 568 tons. In 2023, market volume jumped to 7 289 tons, largely due to imports surging to 744 tons. This import growth was driven by government agreements with the Chamber of Commerce to secure supplies and stabilize prices, coupled with tax and customs exemptions that reduced consumer prices for essential goods. By 2024, the sector began adapting to the European Union's Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which imposes traceability requirements for exports to the EU, and domestic rules requiring ministerial approval for palm oil exporters.

In 2018, Guinea's production of coconut, palm kernel, or babassu oil and fractions reached its highest level at 6,405 tons.
