Production dipped to 1 920 metric tons in 2021 due to persistent challenges with senile coconut trees, competition from other crops like yaqona, and high transport costs from outer islands. However, a significant rise to 2 532 metric tons followed in 2022, driven by increased mechanization and automation in copra drying, milling, and packing processes, alongside continued government and industry collaboration that provided free seedlings to farmers.

Output stabilized at 2 535 metric tons in 2023, with the domestic market volume reaching 2 447 metric tons. By 2024, industry focus shifted towards exporting coconut-based products and fostering innovation, with Fiji Coconut Millers strengthening commitments to farmers and policymakers discussing opportunities to maximize by-product use in a circular economy.
