Exports initially decreased from 108.9 million tons in 2018 to a low of 80.6 million tons in 2021, but subsequently rebounded, rising to 91.6 million tons by 2024.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey (16.8% of exports by volume), South Korea (10.9%), and Japan (8.0%) formed the largest group of coal buyers from the Americas. However, their combined share accounted for just 35.7% of total exports, indicating a diversified country structure.
