The citrus fruit market in Côte d'Ivoire expanded from 228.6 thousand tons in 2018 to 236.3 thousand tons in 2019, driven by the launch of the second National Agricultural Investment Plan (PNIA 2018-2025) which aimed to develop agricultural zones, improve access to finance, and support climate adaptation for crops including citrus. However, in 2020, the market volume declined to 229.2 thousand tons as global supply chain disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic reduced imports significantly, despite a slight increase in domestic production.

From 2021, the market grew sharply to 244.9 thousand tons, primarily due to a government-led push for local fruit processing, including the launch of new juice factories, which boosted demand for citrus fruits as raw material and led to a surge in imports. This trend continued in 2022, with market volume reaching 246.6 thousand tons, supported by ongoing investments in processing infrastructure and quality control measures in the agricultural sector. In 2023, the market eased to 240.6 thousand tons as imports moderated while exports increased, reflecting a shift in trade flows amid sustained efforts to promote local processing and value addition.
