The Venezuelan chicken meat and offal market grew from 429 thousand tons in 2018 to 509 thousand tons in 2021, driven by a combination of increased domestic output and supplementary imports. This expansion was supported by the entry of new traders from India, the United States, and other South American countries, which boosted imports of frozen and refrigerated chicken from Brazil and Nicaragua. An improving economic environment in 2019 further stabilized the national meat sector and encouraged poultry production growth, a trend that continued into 2020 as the industry focused on meeting internal demand amid import constraints.

Market volume reached its peak in 2021, bolstered by strong domestic consumption and efforts to secure national supply chains. Fiscal discussions about relieving tax burdens on poultry producers also emerged during this period. Subsequently, the market stabilized around 501–502 thousand tons in 2022 and 2023. During these years, average monthly chicken meat production increased, supported by price stabilization and improved purchasing power in certain consumer segments. Imports, primarily from Turkey and the United States for food aid programs, contributed to market supply without offsetting the dominant role of domestic production.

In 2024, the poultry sector reported a significant 15.8% increase in chicken meat production during the first five months, with monthly growth averaging 6.51%, signaling continued expansion. Industry projections aimed for 550 thousand tons of annual chicken output. However, market dynamics were also influenced by regulatory factors, including government price controls on chicken and ongoing calls for fiscal relief to enhance producer productivity.
