The market recovered to 79.2 thousand tons in 2023, influenced by increased production costs due to international conflicts and storms in Portugal, which raised prices, and by shifts in consumer behavior toward fresh produce. Between 2018 and 2021, imports grew by 3%, equating to an annualized rate of 1.0%. The lowest import value was recorded in 2019 at 19 914 thousand US dollars, which also experienced the largest decline of 9.1%. The most significant increase, at 7.6%, was observed in 2020.
