From 2018 to 2022, Cambodia's cassava market volume remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 13 481 and 13 738 thousand tons. Production gradually increased over this period, supported by the National Cassava Policy 2020-2025 launched in January 2021, which aimed to strengthen production, processing, and sustainable supply of higher-value cassava products for regional and global markets.

In 2023, the market volume dropped sharply to 11 502 thousand tons, despite production rising to 13 915 thousand tons. This decline was due to a significant surge in exports, which reached 2 413 thousand tons, reflecting the success of export-oriented strategies under the national policy. The export growth was driven by increasing demand in regional markets and government efforts to enhance processing and added value, such as starch exports.

Following a two-year decline, Cambodia's cassava production rebounded. In 2020, the country produced 13,600 thousand tons of cassava, a slight increase of 0.6% from the previous year. The lowest production level was recorded in 2019 at 13,513 thousand tons, which also saw the largest decline of 1.7%.
