The casein market in Mongolia remained relatively stable from 2018 to 2020, with annual volumes fluctuating narrowly between 362 t and 367 t. Domestic production was the sole consistent source of supply during these years, as imports were negligible and exports were absent.

A pronounced surge lifted the market volume to 435.1 t in 2021, marking an 18.6% increase from the prior year. This peak was supported by a jump in production to 420.6 t and the addition of 14.5 t of imports. The trend reversed in the following two years, with the market contracting to 343.4 t in 2022 and then to 322.3 t in 2023 as production fell and imports stopped.
