Between 2018 and 2023, the domestic market volume for carrots and turnips in Morocco contracted from 467 thousand tons to 353 thousand tons. This decline was primarily due to a sharp increase in exports, which grew from 13 thousand tons in 2018 to a record 69 thousand tons in 2024. Export growth was driven by sustained diversification into African markets such as Mauritania, Senegal, and Mali, with shipments reaching a record 43 thousand tons in 2023.

Production volumes decreased from 480 thousand tons in 2018 to around 404 thousand tons in 2023. A prolonged drought in 2020 reduced output, but the market stabilized afterward. The launch of four modern wholesale platforms in 2022, part of the long-term Generation Green program, improved logistics and helped support production efficiency by modernizing the fruit and vegetable commercial circuits.

Regulatory changes also influenced the market structure. The 2021 enforcement of the organic farming legal framework introduced the "Bio Maroc" label, while a 2024 decree allowed direct sales between growers and retailers, reducing intermediaries. Wholesale carrot prices rose in 2023 due to strong export demand but fell in mid-2024 as improved local supply eased market tension.
