Earlier Report Observations

Guinea's beef and buffalo meat market volume grew from 94 790 tons in 2018 to 100 421 tons in 2019, a nearly 6% increase. This expansion was primarily driven by the launch of the AgriFARM project, an internationally funded initiative aimed at sustainably increasing incomes for family farms and strengthening local livestock production, including beef.

The market contracted sharply in 2020, falling by 36.1% to 64 176 tons. A recovery began in 2021, with volume reaching 67 518 tons, and continued growth followed in 2022 and 2023, reaching 71 326 tons and then 86 687 tons. The rebound from 2022 onward was supported by government protocols with the private sector to guarantee supply and stabilize prices through tax and customs exemptions on essential goods like beef. Additionally, the first States General of Agriculture and Livestock in 2023 sought to identify and resolve major challenges in the agro-pastoral sector, supporting sustainable livestock development.

In 2024, the government continued its price stabilization agreements and launched tenders to improve the identification of state agricultural domains, which may enhance traceability and management in the livestock sector.
